A sitcom like Friends mirrors our lives, through gud times and bad times, through sorrow and depression, through happiness and love. But the difference between the life in tv and life in real is that not everything ends up as good as in tv, and not as funny either. But it does teach us something - optimism and hope, everywhere and always.
Hope. A mysterious thing. Peoples lives have run on it, and peoples lives have been destroyed by it. You either love it or hate it, but you cant live without it, there is nothing in life without it.
The most recent example being Susan Boyle from Britains got Talent. She has a beautiful voice, but she has not sung professionally till now, and she is 47. Imagine that!!! Out of nowhere comes a show which just changes her life, almost when the prime of her life is abt to get over (debatable).
In this time of crisis, everyone looks for some sign to get out their hell holes, and hopes(and dreams) are the best solutions, or hideaways. That this woman could get so famous and achieve her dream at the age of 47 shows her perseverence. She shows up as a symbol of hope which i believe is the main reason why she has captured the imagination of almost 50 million people (and counting).
As one great author put it -
"Sanity may be madness but the maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be." - Don Quixote.
